The Groove Health app makes it easy to add and track all of your medications.

To add a medication to the app:

  1. Open the Groove Health app.
  2. Click the “plus” sign at the top right of the page, or click “Add New Medication” on the “My Meds” page.
  3. Start typing the name of the medication you would like to add.
  4. Choose your medication from the list of medications retrieved from our drug database.
  5. Select your medication dose (e.g. 20 mg) and type (e.g. tablet).
  6. Choose how often you take the medication. The Groove Health app allows the following schedules: Every Day, Specific Days (e.g. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays), Every _ Days (e.g. Every 3 Days), and As Needed.
  7. Select which times of day you take the medication. You can click “morning”, “afternoon”, “evening”, or “night”, or choose “add a time.” If needed, once you see a time on the screen, you can click the time and adjust it.
  8. If you take more than 1 pill, tablet, etc. per dose, click “1 per dose” and adjust the number to your specific quantity.
  9. Click “Save and Schedule.”

That’s it! You’ve just added a medication to the Groove Health app. If you have notifications turned on, you will now begin receiving reminders when it’s time to take this medication.

To edit a medication you’ve previously added:

  1. Open the Groove Health app and click on the “My Meds” tab.
  2. Select the medication you would like to edit.
  3. Under “Schedule”, click on your current schedule.
  4. Make any changes you’d like to the medication. You can change: how often you take the medication, what times of day you take the medication, and how many pills, tablets, etc. you take per dose. You can also simply add and remove dose times with the “add a time” and “remove a time” buttons.
  5. Once you’ve made your changes, be sure to click “Save and Schedule.”

You will now begin receiving medication reminders for your updated medication schedule. Your new schedule will also be updated on the “Today” tab and the “My Meds” tab.

There are two ways to delete a medication:

  1. Open the Groove Health app and click on the “My Meds” tab. Select the medication you would like to delete, scroll to the bottom of the page and press “Delete Medication.” Press “Delete” in the popup if you’re sure you want to delete the medication.

    OR
  2. Open the Groove Health app and click on the “My Meds” tab, then swipe left on the medication you would like to delete. Click the red “Delete” button then press “Delete” in the popup if you’re sure you want to delete the medication.

Important medication about your medications is available in several places throughout the Groove Health app.

  1. In Your Inbox
Click on the envelope near the top right of your screen on the “today” tab. Your inbox contains general information about your medications as well as important alerts regarding interactions among your meds.
  2. On the “My Meds” Tab
The “My Meds” tab contains your medication list. If you click on a med, you’ll find general information about your medication, food interactions (if applicable), medication interactions, and drug images (if available).
  3. On the “Maxwell” Tab
The “Maxwell” tab is where you’ll find your recently asked medication questions. Maxwell can answer almost any medication question you may have. You can ask him about common side effects for your medications and potential interactions. You can even ask him to find the nearest pharmacy for you!

If you made a mistake or forgot to mark a dose as taken, you can adjust your medication history with the “View Daily History” feature:

To adjust medication history:

  1. Open the Groove Health app and click on the “More” tab.
  2. Click “View Daily History.”
  3. Scroll to the day you would like to edit and click on it.
  4. Scroll to the mediation you would like to edit and click on it.
  5. Select “Yes” in the popup if you’re sure you’d like to edit your history. If the dose was previously marked as taken, it will be marked as untaken, and vice versa.

Not seeing your medication or supplement in the list? If one of your medications is not in our database, you can add it as a custom medication.

To add a custom med:

  1. Open the Groove Health app and click the “plus” sign at the top right of the “today” tab to add a new medication.
  2. Type in the name of the medication you would like to add in the search box.
  3. If you’re sure none of the medications in the list (if any) match your medication, click “Add it anyways”, at the bottom of the page, right under “We can’t find…”
  4. In the popup, click “Add Anyway” to confirm you’d like to add a custom med.
  5. Choose your medication schedule, as you would with any other medication.

You will now begin receiving reminders for your custom medication. Please note: On the “My Meds” tab, if you click on your custom medication, you will not see a drug image or drug information, but you will see your medication schedule. The Groove Health app does not check for interactions between the custom med and other meds in your med list.

To change the image for your medication:

  1. Open the Groove Health app and click on the “My Meds” tab.
  2. Click on the medication whose image you’d like to change.
  3. Select “View image”, at the bottom of the blue section towards the top of the page. Note: Not all medications have images in the Groove Health app.
  4. If multiple images are available for your selected medication, a button that says “Select a Different Image” will be present on your screen. Click the “Select a Different image” button. Note: Not all medications have more than one image in the Groove Health app.
  5. Swipe to see other images available for your medication. If you prefer, you can also click on the arrow button that appears at the far right/left of your screen.
  6. Once you’ve found the image you’d like to switch to, click “Select” in the top right corner of your screen.
  7. Click close.

From now on, if you click “View Image”, you will see the photo you selected through the steps above.

Do you take certain medications “as needed”? In other words, do you take certain medications only sometimes? “As needed” medications can be tracked in the Groove Health app.

To add and track an “As needed” medication:

  1. Open the Groove Health app and click the “plus” icon at the top right of the screen.
  2. Type in the name of the medication you would like to track “As needed”, then click on your selection in the list.

  4. Click the button under “How often do you take this med”? By default, this says “Every Day.”
  5. Choose “As Needed” from the available options.
  6. Click “Save and Schedule.”

You will now see your “As Needed” medication on the “Today” tab and in your medication list on the “My Meds” tab.

To mark that you took an “As Needed” medication, click on the “Today” tab, then click on the plus icon in the circle, at the right of your As Needed med’s name. Your dose will be recorded on your “Today” tab and in your history (found on the “More” tab).

iOS

  • If you are not receiving notifications at all, open “Settings” on your device, scroll to “Notifications”, click on the Groove Health app, and ensure “Allow Notifications” is toggled to “On.”
  • If you cannot hear your notifications, ensure you do not have “Do Not Disturb” mode turned on. “Do Not Disturb” mode is accessed in your device’s settings.

Android

Check your device’s battery settings. Some newer versions of the Android operating system delay notifications for certain apps based on the device’s battery and power settings. If you are using Android 6.0, you may need to disable “Doze” mode to receive your reminders.

To disable “Doze” mode:

  1. Open your device’s settings and choose “battery.”
  2. Click on the three dots at the upper right of your screen (the “options” menu), then click on “Battery Optimization.”
  3. Click on the down arrow, then click “All apps.”
  4. Click “Groove Health”, then click “Don’t optimize.”
  5. Click “Done.”
  • Navigate to your device notification settings and ensure notifications are “On” for the Groove Health app.
  • Ensure your device volume is turned up.
  • Ensure you do not have any “do not disturb” mode or notification silencing mode on.

With the above settings configured, you should be receiving audible alerts from the Groove Health app.

To turn on notifications if you previously elected to keep them off:

iOS

  1. Open the Groove Health app and click on the “today” tab.
  2. Click on the bell icon near the top right of the page.
  3. Click “Allow” or “Go to Settings” on the popup. If your device takes you to device settings, click “Notifications”, then switch “Allow Notifications” to on.

Android

  1. Open your device’s settings.
  2. Click “Apps.”
  3. Click on the Groove Health app.
  4. Turn notifications “On.”

You should now receive notifications from the Groove Health app.

There are several options for snoozing your medications:

  • If it’s time for you to take a medication, when you Open the Groove Health app you should see a list of medications due. At the right of this page is a button labeled “snooze.” Select the medications you would like “snoozed”, then click “snooze.” You will be prompted to select your desired snooze time. Your notifications for your selected meds will start after your selected snooze time has elapsed.
  • You can snooze your medications from notifications, too. From the notification’s options, select “snooze.” You will begin receiving notifications for the med you “snoozed” in 15 minutes.

The Groove Health app makes it easy to quickly add medications to the app through our pre-defined reminder times: Morning, Afternoon, Evening, and Night.

If you take your meds at times other than the default times (7AM for morning meds, 1PM for afternoon meds, 7PM for evening meds, and 10PM for night meds), you can easily change your default times through the Groove Health app settings.

To change your default dose times:

  1. Open the Groove Health app and click on the “More” tab.
  2. Scroll towards the bottom of the page and click “Settings” under “Menu.”
  3. Under “Manage Account”, click “Change Default Schedule Time.”
  4. Click on the time(s) you would like to change, then adjust to your desired time(s).

Your changes will be saved automatically. The next time you schedule a med, you will see your custom reminder time(s) instead of the default(s).

You do not need cellular network or Wi-Fi to receive Groove Health app reminders. You can even receive reminders in Airplane Mode!

Traveling? Changed time zones? The Groove Health app can help you stay on track with your medications.

If your time zone has changed, you will still receive your medication reminders, and you will still be able to track your medications through the “Today” tab.

Your reminders will come at your locally scheduled time. For example, if you scheduled your medication in Chicago (Central Time) for 7AM and are traveling to New York (Eastern Time), you will receive your medication reminders at 8AM in New York. And on the today page, you will notice that your 7AM medications now show for 8AM.
